Upsie Oversubscribed in $1.7M fundraising roundJan 30, 2018

Upsie is thrilled to announce that we officially closed our seed round of funding!
This round will allow us to serve our customers by continuing to provide exceptional customer service, transparency and affordable prices. In order to do this, we will be hiring more top talent and significantly increasing our presence in the market.
Fundraising certainly isn’t an easy task, but we found a fantastic group of investors that we are so happy to partner with. Thank you to our shareholders and investors! Participating in the round is Techstars Ventures, Matchstick Ventures, Gopher Angels, M25 Group, Village Capital Investments and The Syndicate Fund. We also added notable angel investors Marc Belton, Mark Addicks, & Jim D’Aquila. Here are some of the reasons they believe in Upsie:
“Techstars is thrilled to continue our support for Clarence and Upsie as part of their latest financing. We first met Clarence last year during Techstars Retail in partnership with Target and were deeply impressed with Clarence’s drive and the massive opportunity in front of Upsie. We are happy to be an ongoing part of their journey as they help consumers save money and redefine consumer device protection.”
Cody Simms, Techstars Ventures
“Upsie represents the type of opportunity we love to back at VilCap Investments — a solution to an often overlooked problem that affects people and their financial health everyday, brought to market by a passionate and relentless founder. Investors frequently talk about ‘grit’ as one of the leading attributes they look for in founders — Clarence has redefined the term in our experience. Upsie’s brand dispels the notion that warranties must be an inherently opaque and unfriendly customer experience, and replaces it with an expectation of fairness, affordability, and transparency. Big brands and loyal customers are taking notice, and we’re proud to be continued partners in their growth.”
Victoria Fram, Village Capital
“M25 is investing because Clarence found a large, relatively untouched opportunity in the broader insurance landscape and turned the user experience on its head. As a consumer, the price doesn’t even warrant purchasing the policy, and the customer service is a nightmare. As an early-stage investor, you really can’t put a premium on an aggressive founder with a superior product in a huge space. [Puns intended]”
Victor Gutwein, M25
We are honored to continue our journey of providing affordable and transparent warranties. Customers deserve a warranty option that serves their needs, not warranties that are padding the profit of retailers. Thank you to the Minnesota startup community for being unbelievably supportive throughout our journey. We are so proud to be a part of a community that is doing big things.
