The Best Ways to Spend Video Game DaySep 5, 2019

September 12th is Video Game Day! It’s time to level up and focus on completing quests you have recently been pushing to the side. There are a ton of different options to choose from when it comes to enjoying Video Game Day. Below are just a few ideas on how to get started on your epic journey of celebrating gaming.

Learn More About Your Favorite Game

The cool part about video games is the history and stories behind them. No matter how long you have played a game, there’s always something new to learn. Whether it’s a game franchise you have played since you were young or a new game you’re just starting, it’s never too late to learn more about it.

For example, a game I recently started playing is Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game is so expansive that I look up one thing and discover five more. Even my friends, with hundreds of hours sunk into the game, are still discovering new korak locations and additional character abilities.

Host a Multiplayer Video Game Night

Video games have many options when it comes to playability. You can play alone, play in a room with others, play online or even watch others play. I love inviting friends over and hosting a multiplayer gaming night. If you have more than the typical team of three to four players, the people not playing can root for the ones playing. Snacks and beverages are always a welcome addition to the party, especially for the spectators.

Gather for a Costume Party

Snacks are also a welcome addition at a costume party. Who ever said you only get to dress up on Halloween, anyways? There’s hardly a better way to celebrate Video Game Day than dressing up as your favorite character! Invite friends over so they can show off their costumes. Additionally, try making game themed snacks and drinks like these Zelda Triforce Lemon Bars. After all, you’ll need your game fuel to keep your stamina levels up for a fun night!

Try a New Video Game

Video games have been around for a long time. They aren’t going anywhere, either, which means that there’s always a new game to try. Perhaps you bought a game months ago and haven’t touched it since. Today could be the day you finally sit down and try it out! Alternately, maybe it’s time to try that free-to-play online game that your friend has been bugging you about. The options are limitless when you have so many possibilities at your disposal.

Make a Wishlist

The best part about playing video games is that there’s always a new game release to look forward to. We are already approaching the holiday season, which means there’s going to be a plethora of new games to try. Take some time to sit down to create a wishlist of the upcoming games and system releases you want. Some of the games on my current list are Pokémon Sword, Planet Zoo and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Whether you’re a new gamer or a veteran, there are many ways you can enjoy Video Game Day. I hope this list helps you figure out how you’re going to celebrate. Game on!
