The Games Announced at Nintendo Direct Mini

It’s an exciting time for Nintendo Switch owners! On June 28, 2022, a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase took place, which gave a full overview of updates that’ll be happening throughout the rest of 2022 and into 2023. During the 25-minute presentation, Nintendo discussed upcoming plans for hardware, software, and of course, new games. And there are some awesome new developments.

Nintendo Direct Mini Highlights

In a late June 2022 press release, Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations, said the following.
“With dozens of new games featured in this Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase arriving soon, players have so much to look forward to on Nintendo Switch. This robust showing from our development and publishing partners highlights the versatility of Nintendo Switch, with a deep game library that continues to expand, entertain, and delight.”

Upcoming Nintendo Games

Nintendo packed a lot into their brief presentation and announced tons of new games. Here are some of the most notable.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

As of the time of this writing, this game has already been released and came out on June 30, 2022. It has the same epic visuals and storylines players have come to love from the franchise, but it features some cool new updates like new monsters, fighting capabilities, and battle scenes.
There’s also an increased difficulty setting of Master Rank to put your skills to the ultimate test.

NieR Automata: The End of YorHa Edition

During Nintendo Direct Mini, it was announced that this action role-playing game will officially drop on October 6, 2022. It’s a re-release of the 2017 smash hit. It will also feature an add-on that includes “new costumes and customization options, new battle colosseums, and even boss fights (literally) against the presidents of Square Enix and developer PlatinumGames,” explains video game writer Owen S. Good.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is slated to be the first Nintendo Switch release in 2023 and is a puzzle adventure game based on a murder mystery. It has an atmospheric, somewhat spooky vibe and is perfect for players that want to test their wits.

Super Bomberman R 2

The old classic that originally debuted in 1993 is back in full force, with the newest version, Super Bomberman R 2 coming out in 2023. This game has the same fun feel as its predecessors, where players can move their way through the game in the classic “Battle” or “Story” mode.
And there are some notable new developments, including 3D stages for more immersive gameplay and Battle mode that allows up to eight players to compete simultaneously for high-intensity gaming sessions.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection

Also coming out in 2023, this Nintendo Switch game will celebrate 22 years of the Mega Man franchise. It still has the old-school feel that players have come to love but with a fresh, updated look.
Two notable additions include an art gallery that’s “packed full of official illustrations, rare rough designs, and concept art” (1,000 pieces in total) and a robust music player with 188 songs from the Mega Man Battle Network games. Players can set specific songs as background music for their gallery and listen to their favorites on repeat.

Pac-man World Re-Pac

When it comes to classics, it doesn’t get much better than Pac-man. This cutting-edge, modern version of the game will come out on August 26, 2022, and will have several innovative features. There will be, for example, an improved UI with better mechanics and high-level visuals. And there are multiple gameplay options, including QUEST MODE, MAZE MODE, and of course, CLASSIC MODE.
