Officially unveiled at CES 2022, Asus has kicked off another year with various updates to its Republic of Gamers lineup. Chief among these updates are a number of additions to the manufacturer’s already popular Strix and Zephyrus ranges. That includes a revised 14-inch Zephyrus laptop, which also picked up a prestigious 2022
CES Innovation Award.
Updates to ROG Strix and Zephyrus Products
Asus recently headed to CES 2022 – formerly known as the Consumer Electronics Show. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s widely regarded as the most influential tech event globally. Famously catering
extremely well to gamers, the manufacturer was eager to show off several changes to its Republic of Gamers or ROG lineup.
ROG was first introduced by Asus back in 2006. Aimed squarely at PC gamers, the brand designs, manufactures, and sells a range of products, including computer hardware, peripherals, and accessories. More recently, it’s also moved into the smartphone market, offering
handsets designed specifically for gaming. For the most part, though, ROG is best known for its high-end laptops.
At CES 2022, eager gaming fans were given a detailed look at several of Asus’s latest innovations from under its Republic of Gamers umbrella. Highlights included numerous additions to ROG’s existing Strix and Zephyrus ranges.
ROG Zephyrus G14
Asus first took time to show off the revised
2022 ROG Zephyrus G14. Slimmer and with a cleaner-than-ever aesthetic, the updated G14 sees ROG continue to focus on the outward appearance of its gaming laptops. A variety of changes under the hood also promise to make the 14-inch device faster than ever.
For example, the latest Zephyrus G14 from ROG is offered with a selection of cutting-edge CPUs, including AMD’s new Ryzen 6000 Series. Elsewhere, its 120Hz QHD
mini LED panel promises full DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and a 3ms response time. Expected to hit stores in March or April, the 2022 ROG Zephyrus G14 will cost from $1,699.99.
ROG Strix G15 and G17
Similarly impressive are a pair of refreshed
ROG Strix laptops in the shape of the G15 and G17. Designed primarily for esports enthusiasts, the two 15- and 17-inch Strix devices are larger and therefore less portable than the updated Zephyrus G14. That said, they’re almost endlessly customizable.
They both feel very much like premium products with next-generation cooling and a similar focus on aesthetics to that found on the new Zephyrus G14. A refresh rate of up to 360Hz won’t disappoint, either. Further, it has Dolby Atmos audio, 100-watt fast charging, and Wi-Fi 6E support.
Expect prices to start at around $2,000 for the updated ROG Strix range when the two models go on sale in the springtime.
ROG Strix Scar
For those wishing to push the boat out, another all-new ROG Strix model is coming, too. Costlier than either the ROG Strix G15 or G17, the
Strix Scar will offer the same perks as the larger 17-inch model. Yet, buyers will also get plenty of extra features, including PCIe Gen 4 and
super-fast DDR5 RAM.
Moreover, while the Strix G15 and G17 will ship with Windows 11 Home as standard, the ROG Strix Scar also gets Windows 11 Pro out of the box.
Further price and release date details are limited. However, prospective buyers should anticipate paying a reasonable premium over the cost of the non-Scar Strix G17 when the top-tier device goes on sale later this year.
Asus ROG Gaming Laptop Warranties
Costing from $1,700, an extended laptop warranty is advisable for any of the latest Republic of Gamers devices. ROG customers can, of course, tap into Asus’s Warranty Extension Package and Premium Care services.
However, Asus does not offer the most valuable warranties on the market. The Taiwanese multinational electronics company’s extended warranties and protection plans are all notably quite expensive.
