The Best Extended AirPods Warranty Isn’t from Apple

Apple’s AirPods offer a true wireless headphone experience with smart features and tight integration into the Apple ecosystem. They were the first widely successful true wireless earbuds and remain a popular choice today.
Alongside newer versions of its AirPods, Apple has also produced a higher-end version, the AirPods Pro. This model adds an in-ear seal, better audio quality and active noise cancellation. They, too, have become very popular in the short time they’ve been on the market.
Of course, as with anything Apple, the AirPods and AirPods Pro carry a price premium. That stellar design, tight-knit ecosystem functionality and legendary customer service don’t come cheap.
Given the price, many AirPods owners are looking for an extended AirPods warranty to keep costs in check should something happen to their headphones.
Apple offers their own AppleCare+ warranty, but the best extended AirPods warranty isn’t from Apple. Upsie is the better alternative. Here’s why:

AppleCare+ for AirPods and AirPods Pro

Apple’s own extended warranty may not be the best, but it does offer quality, reliable coverage. Here’s what the company says about this offering:
“Every set of AirPods, Beats earphones, or Beats headphones comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ extends your coverage to two years from your AppleCare+ purchase date and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage protection every 12 months, each subject to a service fee of $29, plus applicable tax.”
With AppleCare+, you can ship in your AirPods or bring them into an Apple Store. One advantage to the program is their Express Replacement Service, which gets you a replacement device so you don’t have to wait for your repair to arrive.
AppleCare+ covers defects and accidental damage throughout the coverage period, but not loss or theft.

Repair Limits

With AppleCare+, you’re limited to two total repairs within each 12 months of the coverage period. That’s concerning, especially when you consider what a “single repair” looks like. ZDNet reports that repairing a single earbud counts as a repair, as does a case repair. So it sounds like (in theory at least) if you run over your AirPods in their charging case and everything breaks, you’ll need three repairs—when only two are covered.

Pricing

Apple offers AppleCare+ for AirPods and AirPods Pro. The cost for two years of extended coverage is $29. But if you have an actual claim on any part of your AirPods, you’ll pay an additional $29 per incident. This price is consistent across AirPods and AirPods Pro, plus the various charging and wireless charging cases.
So if your AirPods and their case get damaged together, you’re out $58 as a service charge — in addition to the $29 you paid for coverage in the first place.

A Better Extended AirPods Warranty from Upsie

Apple’s coverage isn’t awful. But it isn’t the best extended AirPods warranty available, either. That title decidedly goes to Upsie. Here’s why.

Coverage

Upsie offers the same high-quality coverage that Apple offers. Pretty much any scenario you can throw at your AirPods, Upsie covers it. (Though just like Apple, Upsie doesn’t cover loss or theft.)
If something goes wrong with your AirPods or AirPods Pro, simply begin a claim with Upsie 24/7/365. You have the option of mailing in your AirPods for repair or taking them to a local store — including the Apple Genius Bar — for repair.
Throughout the process, you’re guided by Upsie’s customer service team, which will help you every step of the way.

Repair Limits

Upsie offers unlimited repairs up to the purchase price of your device. Upsie doesn’t limit you to a certain number of repairs that must fit into specific windows. It’s a simpler and fairer approach, providing an appropriate monetary amount of coverage and an unlimited number of claims.

Pricing

With Upsie, coverage is simpler and is based on the purchase price. That means that you can buy an extended AirPods warranty for a brand-new set of AirPods for just $25.99 for the same two years of coverage. If you want a third year, the price is $37.99 — less expensive than what Apple charges for only two years!
The deductible if you need to make a claim is also lower at just $25.
Prices jump up slightly for the more expensive AirPods Pro, though the deductible remains the same at a low $25.

The Best Extended AirPods Warranty: Upsie

If you’re looking for the best extended AirPods warranty available for AirPods, Upsie is it. You get high-quality coverage, dependable customer service, and lower prices. It’s a perfect combination!
