HP Elite Dragonfly G2 Complete Review

The latest HP Elite Dragonfly 2-in-1 laptop and tablet has plenty to offer. Representing HP’s second-generation Elite Dragonfly model, the G2 arrives precisely two years after its much-hyped predecessor initially hit the market. HP first unveiled the G2 at the start of the year, and potential buyers had to wait six months or more to get their hands on their own HP Elite Dragonfly G2.
Thankfully, it appears to have been worth the wait. The HP Elite Dragonfly G2 builds upon the success of the original device nicely. For example, the latest incarnation of HP’s flagship 2-in-1 laptop and tablet gets a raft of new features, including an improved 13.3-inch touchscreen and an all-new keyboard sanitation mode.
The new HP Elite Dragonfly G2 also receives a choice of upgraded 11th generation i5 and i7 processors. Impressively, it does all of this and more without adding unduly to the original’s weight. As a result, the G2 weighs in at less than 2.3lbs. To put that into context, the comparable MacBook Air from Apple weighs around half a pound more.

Highly Customizable (At a Cost)

Because the Elite Dragonfly G2 is highly customizable when ordered directly from HP, the prices vary. However, the starting price is around $2,000. Even in its most basic guise, the HP Elite Dragonfly G2 is still feature-packed and offers impressive performance pretty much across the board.
It’s possible to significantly bolster the standard HP Elite Dragonfly G2’s performance figures, too, with various RAM and SSD upgrades. But, again, these come at a cost. Yet, rather curiously, it’s also possible to downgrade multiple aspects of the G2’s standard specification, potentially saving several hundred dollars in the process.
Ultimately, though, try not to stray too far from HP’s recommendations. The standard Elite Dragonfly G2 will likely suit the majority of people. However, even with nothing tweaked, it’s fair to say that the flagship HP 2-in-1 represents a fantastic and easy buy for anyone who’d rather not have to pick between a plethora of different options.

Dragonfly by Name, Dragonfly by Nature

According to HP, the Elite Dragonfly G2’s name comes primarily from its appearance. It’s something that remains essentially unchanged between the first and second-generation models. The Dragonfly portion references the rich, dragonfly-like blue-colored finish found on the 2-in-1 laptop and tablet.
You could also argue that the device’s convertible design is dragonfly-inspired as well. Indeed, somewhat wing-like, HP Elite Dragonfly G2 buyers can fold the display right over, going from laptop to tablet and back again in barely a second.

Plenty to Look Forward To

Whether an individual is buying their first HP Elite Dragonfly 2-in-1 or is simply upgrading to the latest model, there’s plenty to look forward to with the G2. Buyers get a sturdy magnesium case, a spill-resistant keyboard with built-in sanitation mode, stronger-than-ever graphics performance, up to 16.5 hours of battery life, and more.
Connectivity options on the HP Elite Dragonfly G2 are great, too. This includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a USB-A port, plus provisions for HDMI and a single 3.5mm jack for both the input and output of audio.
Unfortunately, the latest Dragonfly-branded 2-in-1 from HP lacks an Ethernet port, although support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 largely makes up for this. In addition, mobile broadband is an optional extra in the shape of either LTE or 5G.
When shopping for an HP Elite Dragonfly G2, be sure to check that it’s the second-generation model. First-generation models are still widely available, so it’s crucial to ensure that you’re buying the 2021 HP Elite Dragonfly G2, not its older stablemate from 2019.

HP Elite Dragonfly Warranty

Like any flagship laptop or tablet, the HP Elite Dragonfly G2 is an investment. Accordingly, an extended warranty is essential to protect your new device from damage.
An extended laptop warranty from Upsie protects your device from damage and covers the blind spots left by the manufacturers’ limited warranty. For example, Upsieā€™s warranties include protection against drops, liquid spills, and other accidental mishaps.
In addition, Upsie costs up to 70 percent less than warranties from manufacturers and retailers. By cutting out the middleman, Upsie passes these savings directly to the consumer, ensuring that customers get the most out of their coverage.
You can purchase an Upsie warranty for laptops bought in the last 60 days.
