Lenovo Promises Plenty to Offer With P11 Pro Tablet

Lenovo recently unveiled its most powerful Android tablet ever, the 11.5-inch P11 Pro. The device boasts one of the brand’s thinnest form factors in a tablet to date. Promising non-stop entertainment combined with a wealth of productivity options, there’s a lot to offer.
The Lenovo P11 Pro comes out fighting, equipped with a state-of-the-art display and Dolby-enhanced audio. Priced from $499, the P11 Pro certainly appears to offer plenty of bang for your buck.
Across the tablet market, there’s no shortage of options. And make no mistake, Lenovo’s powerful new P11 Pro has planted itself down squarely amid some very strong competition.
The multinational tech company’s latest offering even fancies itself against the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus. That’s a surprising proposition considering that Samsung’s flagship tablet is around twice as expensive.
So, does the P11 Pro live up to Lenovo’s hype? Let’s find out.

Lenovo P11 Pro Review

The Lenovo P11 Pro makes no bones about the fact that it’s coming out fighting. It’s in a position to face off, Lenovo would have us believe, against even the most established offerings from Samsung, Apple, Amazon, Huawei, and others. On the surface, there’s no reason to doubt that.
Right from the outset, the company’s range-topping Android tablet looks every inch the premium device. At just 0.22 inches thick and delivered in Lenovo’s popular Slate Grey finish, it’s a handsome piece of tech. It also feels exceptionally well put together.

Performance

The device definitely packs a punch on paper with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chip and stated 15-hour battery life. Further, it enjoys an 11.5-inch Dolby Vision OLED screen and Dolby Atmos-tuned sound from four powerful JBL speakers.
Other features include:
  • 128GB storage
  • Front-facing 8MP camera
  • 13MP rear-facing camera
  • Fingerprint reader
  • Face recognition
  • MicroSD slot
  • USB 3.2 Type-C, 2.4GHz
  • 5GHz dual-band WiFi
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • And more

Functionality

Lenovo’s most powerful Android tablet certainly doesn’t appear to lack functionality. That said, early reviews have been critical of several of its features, including its cameras. How necessary camera functionality is on any tablet remains up for debate, of course.
However, concerns surrounding mostly minor aspects of its hardware aren’t the end of the story. The P11 Pro’s overall ability is further called into question in terms of its apps.

Apps

At its launch, the P11 Pro quickly fell victim to criticism over its apps. The tablet’s built-in apps were first to be knocked by the likes of Wired and TechRadar. Others have since gone on to further call out Lenovo for the device’s poor app availability.
Future software updates will undoubtedly address many of the niggles with its built-in apps, and hopefully sooner rather than later. On the other hand, only time will tell if additional app availability for P11 Pro owners improves or not.

Lenovo P11 Pro Review: Other Considerations

Despite a few quirks, on the face of it at least, the Lenovo P11 Pro appears to live up to expectations for the most part.
Lenovo’s flagship 11.5-inch Android tablet also makes plenty of additional promises. Chief among these, perhaps, the P11 Pro claims to be a fitting laptop replacement.

Laptop Replacement Potential

Equip the P11 Pro with Lenovo’s optional keyboard, and it promises to become an ideal laptop replacement. It’s a claim now made frequently by almost all of the world’s leading tablet manufacturers.
In Lenovo’s case, the company has even gone as far as to designate the P11 Pro’s optional extra in this regard as an entirely laptop-class addition.

Risk of Over-Promising (and Under-Delivering)

Laptop-class keyboard or not, the Lenovo P11 Pro like it might be trying to do too much at once.
Where it excels, it does so in spectacular fashion. Anyone would be hard-pressed to pick fault with its excellent display and Dolby-enhanced audio. As a piece of entertainment-focused tech, there’s genuinely very little to complain about, app availability aside.
Where Lenovo may have tripped itself up is by also trying to position the P11 Pro as a piece of PC-level kit poised to replace buyers’ laptops. Admittedly, it’s difficult to put a finger on exactly where the tablet falls down in this quite precise sense. Still, there’s a lingering impression that Lenovo could’ve been just slightly too ambitious, especially at the P11 Pro’s very reasonable price point.

Lenovo Warranty

Despite some minor misgivings, the Lenovo P11 Pro is a competent tablet. Particularly when viewed as an exclusively media-focused device, it’s hard to argue with its $499 price tag.
However, Lenovo’s one-year limited warranty offers only the bare minimum protection against any number of unfortunate potential issues. As such, it’s a good idea to lock in some added security. The company offers a choice of Warranty Upgrade and Warranty Extension add-ons. Unfortunately, both are expensive, and neither provides protection against accidental damage.
Accordingly, a more comprehensive and likely less-costly third-party package may be advisable.

Protect Your Lenovo P11 Pro With Upsie

With Upsie, customers can cut out the middleman to save up to 70% compared to the cost of a standard manufacturer’s extended warranty.
What’s more, Upsie offers all-important accidental damage coverage – something that’s lacking from all manufacturers’ standard limited warranty agreements. The same is also true of many of their extended cover packages. Largely superior to even the best mainstream manufacturers’ extended warranty solutions, three-year Lenovo P11 Pro protection with Upsie costs just $115.99.
Upsie’s deductibles are low, and there are never hidden charges or fees. Coverage includes battery, power, and mechanical failures, plus drops, spills, cracked screens and more. That’s complete peace of mind for the next three years.
