Should You Buy the Alienware Aurora R13 Gaming PC?

If you’re a serious gamer looking for an ultra-high performance gaming PC that has it all, the Alienware Aurora R13 is probably on your radar. But with a starting cost of $1,299.99, is it worth it? Let’s find out.

Alienware Aurora R13: The Good

Where do we begin? This PC is loaded with features. It’s “bigger, better, cooler” than previous desktops,” Alienware writes. And this “first Cryo-Tech enabled desktop has 12th Gen Intel Core processors, a new chassis, improved thermal performance, and quieter acoustics” for a next-level gaming experience.
It has an innovative design with some configurations offering a clear panel of aesthetic bliss. In addition, it has optimized airflow to keep the system quieter for better sound quality. And the patented Cryo-Tech cooling system offers liquid cooling with a heat exchanger that’s 11% larger than what you get with Alienware’s standard cooling unit. This helps keep the PC nice and cool even in the heat of a gaming battle.
In terms of processors, the Alienware Aurora R13 is an absolute beast. The 12th Gen Intel Core has all the firepower you could possibly need for even the most serious of gamers. There’s also been a memory upgrade from previous generations, with the R13 offering double the memory bandwidth of the Aurora R12. And the new graphics architecture has insane transfer rates and features the new PCI-Express 5.0, which makes it dead easy to update your graphics card.
The Alienware Aurora R13 also puts a large emphasis on customization. There’s the option for processor, graphics, and memory upgrades with “easy tinkering” so you can continually modify your PC to get it just right. That way, you not only get a high-end gaming experience now but also in the future.

Alienware Aurora R13: The Bad

As for drawbacks, there are two main ones worth noting. One is the size. With dimensions of 20.1 x 8.86 x 20.8 inches (without the optional cable cover) and a minimum weight of 27.1 pounds (the max is 34.2 pounds), it’s a bit bulky.
And that’s understandable given the insane capabilities of this Alienware system.
But if you’re looking for something lightweight, compact, and portable, this may not be the right choice for you, especially in comparison to other high-end products like the CORSAIR ONE Compact Gaming PC.
The other negative is the cost. At an absolute minimum, the most basic version with 8 GB of memory, 90+ frames per second, and no add-ons, you’ll pay $1,299.99. If, however, you opt for a more robust version like the one with 16 GB of memory and 220+ frames per second, the cost is $2,199.99. And if you want to throw in add-ons, it’s going to cost even more.
For that reason, the Alienware Aurora R13 may simply not be in the price range for many gamers.

The Verdict

Most will agree that this gaming PC is a true masterpiece. It features cutting-edge technology and endless options for upgrades that any serious gamer will drool over. However, the size and cost can be an issue, as there are far more compact and affordable options available.
If you’re looking for a basic gaming PC and don’t have a minimum of $1,300 to shell out, this probably isn’t the best choice. But if you want one of the best gaming experiences money can buy and can afford the steep price tag, the Alienware Aurora R13 is definitely worth considering, especially if you want supreme upgradability.

Getting an Extended PC Warranty

Because this is such a huge investment, it’s important to get an Upsie extended PC warranty.
Upsie’s extended coverage extends the manufacturer’s brief warranty to ensure complete coverage for up to three years. In addition, it ensures you can have your system repaired or replaced for total peace of mind.
Upsie offers affordable protection with premium coverage. For example, for a $1,299.99 Alienware Aurora R13 PC, Upsie’s warranty costs just $81.99 for two years and $146.99 for three years. This warranty includes protection against power failure, defects, motherboard and internal computer failure, and more. Upsie offers coverage for desktop PCs with a purchase price of up to $2,999.99.
Claims can be made 24/7, and pricing is up to 70% less than in-store offers, so you can find great coverage at a reasonable cost. Customers can also make unlimited claims up to the purchase price of the device.
Upsie also offers warranties for laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other electronic devices.
