Exciting things are happening in the desktop PC market and every big name is hoping to make a splash. Stalwart manufacturer HP aims to grab attention with its new
Omen line of computers. There’s something for everyone in this product lineup. This includes everybody from hardcore gamers to everyday users simply looking to boost productivity.
With so many choices from HP alone, it’s difficult to know where to begin PC shopping. A few of the top options available from HP are examined in detail below:
Options and Pricing
One benefit of being a PC enthusiast is the amount of hardware options available. Five different Omen models are on sale, with each one fully customizable. We’ve detailed the basics for each of the five configurations:
HP Omen 25L
Each Omen unit comes equipped with Windows 10 64-bit edition. However, the similarities stop there. The entry-level
Omen 25L is geared towards families or individuals simply looking for a sturdy desktop computer. With an Intel Core i5 CPU, 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD, it has everything a traditional desktop user could ask for. Prices start at $899, making it a solid choice.
The Gaming version of the Omen 25L ditches the Intel CPU for an AMD Ryzen 5. It’s paired with an AMD Radeon RX 5500 GPU. The RAM and SSD options remain the same. Beginning at $999, the Omen 25L Gaming edition is a serviceable foot in the door to PC gaming.
Omen 30L
There are three different versions of the
Omen 30L. All are noteworthy in their own way, but one stands out with its ultra-powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
graphics cards. These GPUs have been incredibly popular ever since they were released back in
September, 2020.
With so many retailers selling out of graphics cards at a near-instantaneous rate, some consumers have opted to go for a pre-built system that already includes one. The Omen 30L
GT-13 0380T is a seriously impressive gaming rig starting at a steep price of $2,099.
A more affordable option might be the
GT13-1380z edition of the Omen 30L. Taking a small step back in GPU power with the included RTX 3060, it’s a tradeoff that some are willing to accept. This comes with a somewhat more modest price tag beginning at $,1399. Sadly, with only 8 GB of RAM, that price will almost certainly need to be bumped up a bit with more RAM added.
The final Omen 30L model — the
GT13-0255st — finds a happy middle ground between the other two versions. This time, the Omen 30L is powered by a GeForce RTX 2060 Super, as well as the Intel Core i5 CPU available on several other Omen models. Also worth noting: like every computer offered by HP, numerous customizations can be made. Price concerns shouldn’t be too big of an issue, as this version starts at $1,499.
The Verdict on the HP Omen Series
With so many different PC makers out there, some consumers may wonder: why choose HP? It’s a good question, as HP has never really been a powerhouse in the gaming space. These devices certainly don’t have the gaming world name recognition of
Alienware — and HP is by no means the first company people think of when it comes to bleeding edge gaming.
None of this means that consumers should pass on the Omen series, though. The machines are well-built, which is the case for all HP products — and the customization options are nearly endless. Unfortunately, HP’s pricing is much higher than it has any right to be, given the lackluster base RAM and SSD storage offerings.
With all that being said, if consumers don’t want to go through the hassle of building their own rig, one from HP is worth considering.
DIY enthusiasts and dedicated PC builders, on the other hand, should probably stick with doing it themselves.
Protecting HP Computers With Upsie
HP devices, like any computer, are vulnerable to several sources of damage. Further, given the often high price tag, the prospect of replacing a broken HP computer can be devastating. Hence the need for significant protection from a
PC extended warranty from Upsie. This affordable option is made possible by cutting out the middleman and passing on the savings.
Upsie warranties are both affordable and convenient. If an HP computer ultimately requires a fix, this can be obtained at a local repair shop. No matter how it’s fixed, this is preferable to paying outright for a replacement. There’s no denying the peace of mind that an Upsie warranty can provide.
